Q and A: JL Fields Wishes Everyone Were Vegan

QUESTION: How long have you been vegan, and what was the motivation behind your decision to go vegan?

ANSWER: I have been vegetarian for ten years, vegan the last two. I went vegetarian because I was offered a slaughtered goat at a celebration in Kenya and refused to eat meat after that occasion. I went vegan for my health two years ago. I have learned enough about factory farming and food production to now remain vegan for all animals.

 

QUESTION: What aspect of The Seed are you most looking forward to?

ANSWER: I’m excited to interact with the attendees – to learn about what attracted them to The Seed experience. I believe The Seed has the potential to draw in people who may never have considered veganism.

 

QUESTION: What is your favorite vegan restaurant and dish?

ANSWER: Candle 79’s Seitan Piccata. Love.

 

QUESTION: What new vegan product/service have you recently discovered, and liked?

ANSWER: The Daiya cheese wedges are pretty amazing, as is Upton’s seitan.

 

QUESTION: What vegan product/service couldn’t you live without, and why?

ANSWER: Vegenaise.

 

QUESTION: What is the most important piece of advice you would give to a new vegan?

ANSWER: There is tons of protein in plants! Don’t buy into the “what about protein” myth.

 

QUESTION: What vegan related question do you most dread being asked, and how do you answer it?

ANSWER: See above. I say that plants are packed with protein, and frankly, most people do not need nearly as much protein as they believe.

 

QUESTION: Who do you wish were vegan?

ANSWER: Everyone.
